Hartford Armory is a direct descendant of the 18th Century Armory of John Fitch, which supplied firearms to the Continental Army during the American Revolution. John Fitch would go on to additional fame as the inventor of the steamboat in the early part of the 19th Century. John Fitch was an American original and Hartford Armory is proud to trace its roots to him.
The current generation of Fitch's descendants founded Hartford Armory with much the same mission as their ancestor: the production of fine American firearms.
Hartford Armory's factory in Orange, Connecticut is one of the most modern and capable medium sized manufacturing facilities in the country. For years, we have supplied major assemblies and parts for America's foremost arms makers. At the more exotic end of the machining spectrum, Hartford Armory has even made parts for the B-2 stealth bomber.
Hartford Armory has been developing three lines of firearms simultaneously.
- 18th Century handmade Pennsylvania rifles
- 19th Century revolvers and rifles using the most modern production technologies
- 21st Century designed sporting firearms (an innovative bolt action rifle, a
classic American double gun and a double action revolver)
Hartford Armory is also offering a complete line of unique gun care products, painstakingly developed for us by Wally Chernobay of "Wally's Originals".
The spirit of John Fitch (as well as his DNA) is alive in Hartford Armory. In keeping with Fitch's example of forward thinking, Hartford Armory is at the forefront of technological advances in manufacturing, using complex digital three dimensional solid models, laser and optical scanning, finite element analysis, cryogenic metallurgical molecular alignment, virtual prototyping, and digital quality control to produce the highest possible expression of American manufacturing capabilities.
